WooCommerce FedEx Shipping – needs activation?

Does this plugin needs to be activated with a key? I was able to get it to work for about a day but then it stopped working (did not return shipping rates) because I think the WooCommerce Helper plugin got activated. Can someone explain how the WooCommerce plugins are to be used without a key?
