Hi,
I was wondering if there is some code snippet / some other solution where I could know that certain plugins installed from here or elsewhere have an update by the author?
Currently I need to manually check periodically to see if the plugin has an update and then come back here to check OR go to some other site where I would have got that plugin from.
Any thoughts / ideas would be welcome.
Thanks
I have Wordfence installed and configured in such a way that just sends me an email when my plugins are out of date.
Thank you for replying. I am assuming Wordfence would do this once your dashboard shows a plugin with an update available.
Would Wordfence know if a plugin (say downloaded from here) has an update available?
Thanks
Absolutely, Wordfence is a security plugin and scans for out of date versions compared with those both paid and unpaid published to WP
It’s by no means perfect when using unlicensed plugins as some exceptions do exist, for example Gravity forms never shows an update is available you have to always check manually and Yoast does not directly show it has an update but WP dashboard will show an update available, you will not know which plugin it is but more than likely it will be Yoast.
